Tuesday, May 30th

Well, little Maya was not a napper yesterday, but she did sleep well lastnight! She slept from
9pm until 4am, then again from almost 6am until 8:20am. This is her wide eyes after her 4am bottle.

We are here!!!

We flew out of JFK this morning and arrived in Guatemala early this afternoon, with NO problems! We got settled today. We had a "date" tonight. We asked around and found an authentic Guatemalan resturant. The food was truly wonderful. For those of you who know my guacamole love...I was not disappointed! We talked the talk of going to the bar tonight and playing pool, but we are just too tired! As our Bryan says, we want to go night-night.

We are meeting Maya tomorrow morning at 9am. If we can work this computer right, expect pictures!

DNA NEWS!

We are very happy to announce that the DNA portion of the adoption process is now completed!

This means that the birthmother's DNA and Maya's DNA were a 99.99%match and that the adoption can proceed!

Our agency requires this step be completed before we travel to meet Maya.

We received word of the good news this morning and we booked tickets to Guatemala this afternoon.

We will meet Maya Monday morning!! Yes, this Monday!

We are so excited and thank everyone for their support!

Today we got updated photos of Maya! Looks like they are feeding her! She is now 9 lbs and 22 inches long. Her report says that she is happy, active and attentive.




We also got good news: Maya's birthmother showed up for DNA testing and her family court interview on Thursday(May 11th). We are now waiting on the lab in New Jersey to obtain and process the samples. Once we have DNA results, we can book our visit trip. That should be within 5 days to three weeks, but we truly hope it is sooner than later!
